Please join the Science Department and rest of Surbiton High School in congratulating Sacha in being awarded the Prince Philip and Marsh Prize Award on Tuesday 27 July, 2017 by the Zoological Society of London. Prosecco and nibbles were enjoyed in the presence of prestigious zoologists, veterinarians, education officers, tigers, gibbons – and even an armadillo – to award her paper ‘Dietary turmeric reduces inflammation and improves mood and mobility in horses with fetlock joint inflammation’ as the standout project of the year. The Prince Philip and Marsh Prize Award has been awarded since 1961 to pupils under 19 years of age at school or sixth form college in the UK, for an account of practical work involving some aspect of animal biology. Sacha impressed the audience and panel with her strong subject knowledge and being able to talk about her project and her plans for the future at length.
We look forward to submitting future projects to the ZSL in hopes of keeping Surbiton High School on the list of annual winners. It must be said, however, that the bar has been set extremely high by young Ms Eyles-Owen!
