Child Student Visa

Surbiton High School is licensed to sponsor international pupils to study in the UK on a Child Student Visa.

If your child requires a Child Student Visa, please indicate this on the application form so that our Admissions team are aware. The Admissions team will contact you with further information regarding the Admissions process; however, your initial application will be treated the same as all other applicants, and we must first assess your child through our usual assessment process. A Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) will not be issued until your child has successfully completed the assessment process.

Please be advised that we do not offer boarding, and we cannot accept applications where children will be living with a private guardian.

Required Documents

The exact documents that you require sometimes vary from application to application, but as a general guideline, please expect to provide the following:

  • A current passport
  • A parental consent form
  • Proof of available funds (to fund your child’s education in the UK)
  • A tuberculosis (TB) certificate. A list of countries likely to require a TB certificate can be found here: TB Test List
  • A birth certificate proving parental responsibility
  • Evidence of your previous UK immigration history, if applicable.

Applying for a Child Student Visa

After your child has completed the Surbiton High School assessment process, we will make you a formal offer to join the School. This will be followed by a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies).

It is your responsibility to apply for your child’s visa, and the Parent of a Child Student Visa, after you have received the CAS.

We must receive a copy of your decision letter and the vignette as soon as they are issued to you. On entry to the United Kingdom, you must also provide us with a share code so that we can view your eVisa.

Costs

The application cost for international applicants varies depending on the year group you are applying for. Please see our application forms for more details.

We are obliged to carry out certain mandatory checks and retain records in relation to each overseas pupil whose visa application we have sponsored. This will incur an administration fee of £350.

If you accept a place at Surbiton High School, you must pay a deposit equal to one term’s fees. This amount is not credited to your first invoice and will be refunded upon leaving the School. However, if your visa is not approved and/or you withdraw your place, the deposit will be retained.
