On Friday 31 January, it was a very early start for our gymnasts, heading off to Streatham & Clapham for the Floor + Vault Regional Finals.
We entered 3 teams in this event, all aiming to become Regional Champions. For the ‘A’ teams, there was the additional pressure of this being their qualifier for National Finals, with only the winning team being eligible for a place.Each gymnast had to perform 2 vaults and a floor routine, with a maximum score of 16.0 on each piece.
Our U14 & U19 B teams all executed solid routines and displayed great strength in depth.
In the U19(A) team, every gymnast scored above 15.3 on vault and the lowest score on floor was 15.6, with Louisa scoring a perfect 16.0 out of 16.0!
The overall outcome was still not inevitable, as the competition was of a very high standard, with several teams vying for the title.
Amazingly, when the results were announced, we were thrilled to take a clean sweep of titles…Gold & Regional Champions in all 3 categories, with the U19(A) team qualifying to represent the London Region for National Finals in May:
