London Mini Marathon

Posted: 15th May 2024

On the day, we all proudly wore our Surbiton High School P.E. kit, complete with the bib and the wristband. We were part of wave 36; scheduled to commence our race at 2:40pm. We waited eagerly for the starter gun! At 2pm, we assembled at the Horse Guard Parade, where our teachers ensured we were race-ready and aware of the rules. We then took the essential team photo.

We warmed up with the one and only Joe Wicks, who gave a shout-out to the various schools taking part. When Surbiton High School’s name was called out, we all cheered enthusiastically! We bravely made our way to the start line and could feel the tension building up in anticipation of the countdown. As soon as the flag was waved, with adrenaline pulsing through our veins, we set off on the iconic London Marathon route. At the finish line, each one of us received a TCS Mini London Marathon medal and a bottle of water to quench our thirst.

I felt very privileged and proud to be given the opportunity to represent my School in this iconic race. Feeling both exhilarated and exhausted, we crossed the finishing line, feeling triumphant with our medals hanging around our neck.
