We are delighted to share the judges’ results from the Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer Show 2024 Competition’. The Royal Academy received over 21,500 submissions this year of which some artworks have been accepted into the online exhibition and a smaller number of successful artworks have also been selected for the display at the Royal Academy.
Surbiton High Senior School submitted 11 pieces of artwork. Thea H in Year 13 has had her painting accepted into the online exhibition and displayed at the Royal Academy! This is hugely commendable to Thea and is a fantastic result.
Visual Barriers:
“In this piece, I sought to explore the barriers created by visual impairment. The bright and unnatural colours elicit confusion, leaving the viewer feeling detached from reality. The holes drilled into the board both withhold information and act as a braille description of the composition, adding a tactility to the piece.” – Thea H, Year 13
