Having won the Borough Football Tournament, the Year 3 and 4 football team represented Kingston at the London Youth Games on Thursday 21 March. It was a very early start to travel to Redbridge, but the team were excited and full of energy.
On arrival, the team were greeted by Surbiton supporters, with parents and grandparents travelling to cheer them on. The team started their pool games with a 2-1 win against Newham, though the next three games were tough, as they narrowly lost each game 1-0 against Bexley, Hillingdon, and Merton. The quality of football across the tournament was high and impressive.
The team recomposed themselves knowing that if they won their last two pool games, they were in with a chance of reaching the quarter-final stage. They came back fighting to beat Islington 3-1 and Camden 1-0. They did all they could, but narrowly missed out on a place in the knockouts. Congratulations to the team for representing Kingston and coming third in their pool. They did the Borough and School proud!
