Friday is #TECHOGNITION day, a national celebration of School Science Technicians, recognising the importance of this essential role in science education. Today we get to give thanks to and recognise the important work around the country of our technicians that essentially allow students to experience practical science lessons. Without them, we just would not be able to function!
At Surbiton High, our three Science technicians, led by a Senior Science Technician, not only prepare and test-out practicals for our twenty-four Science teachers but also help show teachers how to carry out new practicals safely as well as helping to run extra-curricular activities. As you can imagine, in a Senior School of 1115 pupils, the four technicians’ prep rooms are particularly busy places. Last summer we were thrilled that our Science technician team was nominated for United Learning Schools Staff Team of the Year.
So, thank you for all of your hard work and everything you do. Science teachers could not do the job without you!
