In an exciting announcement during a staff briefing, Principal Rebecca Glover proudly unveiled that Surbiton High School has been awarded the prestigious ‘Wellbeing Award for Schools‘ by Optimus Education (in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau).

Principal, Rebecca Glover expressed, “We are honoured to receive the ‘Wellbeing Award for Schools’. It is a validation of our commitment to wellness and serves as a driving force to continue to prioritise the well-being of our staff and pupils. We strongly believe that well-being underpins everything we do and forms a solid foundation for all learning allowing pupils to flourish.”

Achieving this award recognises both the outstanding work of all staff in prioritising and supporting pupils’ well-being and mental health and the excellent systems and initiatives in place aimed at fostering a supportive environment for the whole-school community.

Optimus Education, in acknowledging the School’s commitment to promoting emotional well-being and mental health, emphasised, “It was clear that Surbiton High School is committed to promoting the Emotional Well-being and Mental Health of its whole community. Well-being is explicitly threaded through policies and provision.”

Stuart Murphy, the Assistant Principal – Pupil Development and Well-being, expressed, “The award is valuable recognition of the work that we do to support the well-being of our community. However, the greatest value has come from a process that allowed us to evaluate the systems we have in place with all stakeholders and discover areas where we can make further improvements. In a world where change is constant, it is vital that any school continues to develop the well-being support on offer, and this has been an important step on that journey.”

This accolade is a reflection of the collective dedication and hard work exhibited by everyone involved. Heartfelt congratulations to the entire Surbiton High School community for this well-deserved recognition!
