During this half term, boys in Key Stage 2 have taken part in the Surbiton Premier League.
This weekly event takes place in one of the boys’ games lessons and has been a real hit with them all. The teams were chosen in a dramatic Champions League format, with boys selected at random from a hat until each squad was filled. Each team was then tasked with choosing their name and assigning roles and responsibilities within their team.
On each fixture day, the boys take part in a warmup, skills session and a 30-minute fixture against another club. There are points on offer for a range of areas such as sportsmanship, warmup, skills session and fixture result. The standard of football has been superb and the camaraderie within each team has been lovely to see. The PE Department have certainly been proud of every single boy’s endeavours and effort levels.
The teams currently in the lead are:
Year 3: Champions FC
Year 4: Flaming Phoenix
Year 5: Red Army
Year 6: Lions FC
With two weeks to go, it is still all to play for to see who will be crowned champions of the Surbiton Premier League 2020.
