At Surbiton High School, it’s not just the pupils who represent a nation in their chosen sport.

Surbiton High School’s English Teacher and Hockey Coach, Jim Sayer, has been selected to play for the Welsh National Over 40s Hockey Squad at the Home Nations competition from 18 to 20 May. Bringing to life the School’s motto of ‘Inspire, Encourage, Empower’, Jim has admirably demonstrated that commitment, dedication and perseverance do pay off.

Jim has always had a love of hockey and, as well as playing for Wimbledon HC, being able to coach hockey alongside teaching English at Surbiton High has kept his passion alive. Jim stated, “I am extremely proud to have been selected to represent Wales and it’s great to be able to provide a positive role model for our pupils”.
