World Book Day at the Girls’ Prep

Once upon a time, many little girls dressed up to celebrate World Book Day! There was a real buzz in the air as hundreds of different book characters lined up, ready to start their day. This year’s World Book Day celebrations culminated in the annual costume parade; the standard of costumes was incredibly high.  As music played and the audience cheered, a whole host of characters took to the catwalk.  It was clear to see that our girls had gone to a lot of effort designing and making their costumes. Even the teachers had their turn in the spotlight; displaying their favourite characters from fiction and non-fiction alike! There were three categories with the lucky prize-winners receiving a book voucher to spend on a book of their choice. In KS1 and Reception, Mabel as Little Miss Oops won. From Years 2 to 4, Ella  won as the Sauce Pan Tin Man. Finally, Priya took the Years 5 to 6 prize as The Gingerbread Man. The judges had a particularly difficult time choosing, as the standard of costumes was very high. They gave a special mention to the Swallows and Amazons group as they had made their own boats! A fantastic time was had by all, and planning is already under way for World Book Day 2018!
