Over half term, 49 excitable Year 10 students and 6 fearless teachers visited the breathtaking land of fire and ice. We visited exploding geysers, drove through expansive lava fields, and walked around a glacial lagoon, where Europe’s biggest glacier meets with the sea. We even saw a couple of seals playing in the water here! Our sense of adventure was put to the test one morning when we hiked over a giant glacier and tried the fresh glacial water running through the crevasses. We spent the rest of our time in Iceland trekking up and behind huge waterfalls, and bathing in hot tubs heated by the hot springs. On the last night we were treated to the show of a lifetime, the Northern Lights, displaying stripes of bright green moving across the sky. This was certainly a trip we will never forget.
