SHSLitSoc

Lit Soc is Surbiton High School's literary society. Now in its fourth year, we aim to enthuse all pupils about books, films and theatre, not only through a weekly get together, but also with organised events.

Talks last year included Miss Pett on Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses, Mr Gibbons on Colin Dexter's Inspector Morse series and Miss Phillips on the film Twelve Years a Slave, to name a few. We have also hosted talks by outside speakers welcoming Dr Kathryn Harkup on the Shocking Science in Frankenstein.

Daunted by what to read? Bring your problem to the Lit Soc clinic where we can help you find that perfect book. Looking for that extra edge in UCAS? Amaze your tutors-to-be with your literary knowledge. Fed up with too much Mocking Bird? There are loads of other books out there. Want mind and body nourishment? Lit Soc will provide both. If you are bored by vampires, bewildered by Brontës or just plain bothered by too much choice, come along and share your thoughts on books, films and our great British literary life.
