When can we visit the School?

We hold Open Events throughout the year to welcome prospective parents and their sons to the School. Open events last approximately one and a half hours and include a presentation by the Head, an opportunity to tour the School with our Year 6 boys and to talk with our staff over refreshments. If you are unable to attend an Open Morning, we would be delighted to arrange an individual tour of the School. To attend an Open Event, or arrange a tour, please contact the Admissions Office on 020 8439 1309 or admissions@surbitonhigh.com.

When and how should we apply for a place?

Please complete the online Application Form by 1 November the year before entry. There is a non-returnable application fee of £100. Your son will then be invited to attend the assessment in the January before entry. We will contact your son’s current school to request a confidential report.

How many places are available?

Due to our acquisition of a new building and recent expansion of the Boys' Preparatory School, we are now able to recruit boys for a second form in Year 3 2016. From 2016 onwards, there will be two forms in Year 3 each year, each of approximately 22 boys.

Do you have a catchment area?

Surbiton High School has a wide catchment area. Offers of places are made on the results of the assessment.

When is the entrance assessment?

The entrance assessment is held each year in January and for 2018 entry the assessment will be held on Friday 5 January 2018.

If your son is ill on the day of the assessment, we will be able to arrange an alternative date for him to sit the assessment.

Where is the entrance assessment held?

The assessment is held at Surbiton High Boys' Preparatory School.

What does the Entrance Assessment involve?

The assessments for Year 3 will involve testing in Maths and English. There are several parts to the tests, such as story writing, reading, spelling etc. and the boys will be with us all morning. There will be a break mid-morning, when we offer the boys a drink and a snack. Please ensure that you tell us of any food allergies that your son may have.

What support is available to help my son settle in?

We invite all Year 3 joiners to a New Pupil and Parent Day in the Summer term before entry, where they will meet their Form Teacher and other boys in their form. At the same time, parents are invited to a meeting with staff to go over a few housekeeping points prior to their sons starting with us in September.

Do you have a sibling policy?

We welcome applications from siblings of children who already attend the School. However, places are allocated on merit.

Do you have places available in other year groups?

The main points of entry to the school are Reception (4+) and Year 3 (7+). We sometimes have a small number of places available in other year groups each year, and these may be available part way through an academic year. Please contact the Admissions Office on 020 8439 1309 or admissions@surbitonhigh.com to discuss your requirements.
