Past Events

On Saturday 13 June 2015, we were delighted to welcome back former pupils and staff of the School for the biennial reunion of the Green & Silver Club. There was much excitement as friends from school days recognised each other, reacquainted themselves and shared their memories.  Tours were taken around the school buildings and proved to be a very emotional experience, particular for those who had not been back for decades. Thank you to our Year 9 girls who were fantastic tour guides.

After the tours and drinks reception, everyone proceeded to the Assembly Rooms for lunch. Mrs Ayesha Strachan, Chair of the Green & Silver Club Committee, made a welcome speech and this was followed by a special video link welcome address by the Right Honourable Nicky Morgan MP, who is also a former pupil of the School. Cecilia (Year 9) then treated everyone to Andante Pastoral et Scherzettino by Taffanel on the flute.

After a delicious lunch, our guest speaker Miss Chemmy Alcott, four times Winter Olympian, former pupil and Sports Ambassador for Surbiton High School, spoke passionately about her life, focusing on her Olympic appearances along with the serious injuries that she suffered along the way. Chemmy’s inspirational speech was a reminder to us all that it really is possible to achieve your dreams if you believe in yourself.  The afternoon ended with final words from Ms Ann Haydon on Surbiton 2015 and an impressive school DVD.

It was a wonderful day reuniting former pupils with the memories of the place that helped to shape their life and bringing the past and present of Surbiton High School together.
