Surbiton High is renowned for its Ski Club and following its foundation in 1993 the club quickly established itself as the premier school ski club in the UK, producing British Olympic skiers, such as Chemmy Alcott and Darcie Mead.
The club is one of the largest in Britain and encompasses all ages from six to eighteen. Surbiton High School racing teams have stamped their mark on every major ski competition for schools, winning the Regional, English and British Races, both on snow and artificial slopes.
The objective of the Ski Club is to provide any pupil at Surbiton High School with the opportunity to try ski training and racing and to provide a platform from which students are able to develop into good skiers and to introduce our members to the ski racing opportunities available. Our aim is to maintain our dominance on plastic, but also to encourage skiers to join clubs outside School and race on snow. We are one of biggest school ski clubs in Great Britain, with many current pupils as well as past being school international skiers as well as members of the England Team, the Great Britain Squad and the ISF Team.
Skiing at Surbiton offers:
- All-year-round skiing on an artificial surface with extra sessions at the Snowdome
- Children from Preparatory School, Junior Girls and Senior Girls are welcome
- Club members ranging from intermediate skiers to international performers/competitors
- A great opportunity for parents and pupils from the three parts of the School to mix, meet up and work together
If you are interested in joining the Ski Club in September 2015, please let us know so we can plan our timetables at the slopes and arrange trials. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org stating your ability/experience level.
