Charity

During their time at the Prep, we feel it is essential that our boys understand the importance of our school motto 'Amor nos semper ducat' (May Love Always Lead Us), and how this translates into the values of being empathetic and considerate. As a result, we place a great emphasis on the role of charity in School and the boys' involvement with this. Last year, the Prep raised £4000 for it's chosen charities.

The charities supported each year are generated by the boys through a democratic process where boys nominate a charity close to their heart to be considered for one of the term's fundraising focuses. We encourage the boys to utilise their own talents and creativity in order to generate ideas for fundraising for the worthy causes we support. A good number of fundraising events take place that have included tower building, themed mufti days, read-a-thons, penalty shoot-outs and sponsored runs. The boys enjoy taking part in these events and learn the importance of how the money raised has a significant impact on the lives of many less fortunate people. Recent charities have included Sport Relief, Lord Taveners’ and Cancer Research.

In addition to raising funds for nominated charities, the boys have the opportunity to take part in the community through a number of ventures that have included singing for disabled ex-service men and women at the Star and Garter, leading on Christmas Carols at the Surbiton Christmas light switch on and attending road safety meetings at Kingston Town Hall.
